Who are Kupuna?In the Hawaiian Language the word Kupuna has so much more meaning than the word "grandparent" in the English Language. By definition from the Hawaiian Dictionary the word Kupuna is defined as "Grandparent, ancestor, relative or close friend of the grandparent's generation". Kupuna still living today are truly a blessing to the Hawaiian people. Kupuna are those we come from, the ones who have lived before us, and the ones we live for today. These Kupuna are the basis of our culture and it is because of them that our practices live until today. They experienced and know so much, and it is important to aloha and appreciate them.
